With the third generation of Talbots now in the business, we’ve come a long way from Bob Talbot’s workshop. Some 45 years later, Talbot & Son has grown to be the Isle of Man’s longest established blind manufacturer and supplier. The Island’s only dedicated blind and curtain showroom, with over 5,000 square feet of manufacturing workshops and showroom displays over three floors at their premises Unit 32K, Snugborough Trading Estate, Union Mills, IM4 4LH.
The Talbot family are also surrounded by an amazing team of 7 employees, all of which feel like part of the family – with the majority having been with the company for over 10 years!
You can trust that our close-knit and friendly team will provide you with a fantastic personal and quality service from first meeting, right through to our aftersales care
History of Talbots
Talbot & Son was created and run by Bob Talbot and his Son, Andy from a small workshop under Bob’s house.
Moved to first premises, a two-storey workshop with office in The Loop, Woodbourne Lane, Douglas.
Bob Talbot retires, leaving Andy Talbot to run the business. Andy’s brother-in-law Ian Large joined the business.
Talbot & Son quickly outgrow their premises and started work renovating and building their new premises at James Place, Victoria Road, Douglas. The decision was made to start manufacturing Vertical blinds which were the latest trend (only roller and venetian blinds available previously).
The new premises and workload necessitated a new member of staff to man the showroom and tend to the office work – Hilary Talbot, Andy’s wife joined the Talbot team.
Within a short space of time it was decided to extend the workshop to enable the manufacture of roller blinds.
